Things to do in Bryce Canyon include viewpoints like Sunset Point and Sunrise Point, trails like the Navajo Loop, and stargazing in a certified International Dark Sky Park. Each guide below answers one planning question, from what the weather does in a given month to where to sleep near the park.
How to Plan Things to Do in Bryce Canyon by Season
Start with the Bryce Canyon weather by month guide. From October to May, temperatures fall below freezing nearly every night, so bring warm layers for sunrise starts and evenings outside. In July and August, brief afternoon thunderstorms are frequent, so plan longer hikes for the morning.
The park shuttle runs from April through mid-October. The National Park Service lists it as optional but recommended, so build a shuttle ride into your day if you visit in those months.
Trails and Viewpoints for a First Day
Pair one viewpoint with one trail for a first day in the park. Read the Sunset Point guide to choose when to go, then the Navajo Loop Trail guide before you set out. In winter, the Wall Street side of the Navajo Loop closes, while the Two Bridges side stays open year-round.

Things to Do in Bryce Canyon After Dark
Bryce Canyon became a certified International Dark Sky Park in 2019. The stargazing at Bryce Canyon guide explains how to plan a night of sky-watching. In 2026, the park's Astronomy Festival runs June 11 to 13, and entry is free with park admission.
To compare lodging, read where to stay near Bryce Canyon. At Dark Light Collection, we are building glass pyramids on private land near the park, opening in 2027. Founding deposits for our Bryce site are open now. Pick your travel month in the weather guide first, then choose one trail and one night to plan the rest of your trip around.
