Book a room inside Bryce Canyon National Park if you can: The Lodge at Bryce Canyon and the North and Sunset campgrounds are the three overnight options in the park. If those are full, stay at Ruby's Inn or the Best Western Plus Grand Hotel, which each have a park shuttle stop. A third choice is a base in Bryce Canyon City, Tropic or Panguitch.

Where to Stay Inside Bryce Canyon National Park

Staying at the Lodge, North Campground or Sunset Campground puts you overnight inside Bryce Canyon. While the shuttle runs (April through mid-October), the National Park Service (NPS) strongly encourages visitors who are not staying at one of the three to leave their vehicle outside the park and ride in.

The Lodge at Bryce Canyon

The Lodge at Bryce Canyon has 114 rooms, split among lodge suites, motel rooms and cabins, a short walk from Bryce Amphitheater. The dining room serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the Lodge has a gift shop.

When the shuttle is running, a stop beside the Lodge connects you to viewpoints and trailheads around the amphitheater.

A Lodge Built for Railroad Travelers

The Utah Parks Company, a Union Pacific Railroad subsidiary, financed the Lodge, its cabins, the General Store and the Historic Service Station for travelers the railroad planned to bring by rail. The railroad planned for travelers to arrive at a rail depot in Lund, Utah, near present-day Cedar City, then go by bus to the parks.

Bryce Canyon became a national park in 1928, and the Utah Parks Company served as its sole concessionaire until 1972. That year the company donated all of its assets inside the park to the NPS, including the Lodge you can book today.

North and Sunset Campgrounds

North Campground is open year-round, so it is the in-park campground for a winter or early-spring trip. Sunset Campground is open mid-April to October. If you travel in a recreational vehicle (RV), plan around the park's dump station, which is typically open May to September.

Hotels Near Bryce Canyon at the Shuttle Stops

Ruby's Inn and the Best Western Plus Grand Hotel each have their own park shuttle stop. Shuttle Stop 2 sits across the road from the Ruby's Inn main entrance. Shuttle Stop 3 is at the Best Western Plus Grand Hotel.

The shuttle runs April through mid-October and is optional but recommended. Buses typically come every 15 minutes from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in spring and fall, and until 8 p.m. in summer. The Bryce Canyon Shuttle Tracker lets you time your next ride to the minute.

The ride costs nothing beyond park admission. The $35 entrance fee covers unlimited shuttle rides for you and everyone in your vehicle. Buy a digital pass before you arrive and show it to the driver, or pay admission at the window beside the Ruby's Inn front doors.

If you sleep somewhere else and still want the shuttle, park at the Shuttle Station near Ruby's Inn, on the left side of the road before you enter the park. Ruby's Campground is a second place to park and board. Riding the shuttle supports the park's efforts to keep its parking lots from growing any larger.

Nearby Towns for a Bryce Canyon Base

Bryce Canyon City, Tropic and Panguitch are the nearby communities to compare when the park and the shuttle-stop hotels are booked. The Garfield County Tourism Bureau lists lodging, dining and recreation in the communities near the park, and the National Park Service recommends it on its lodging page.

A town base changes how your days run. Unless your hotel sits on the shuttle line, you will drive to the park and either park at the Shuttle Station or drive the park road yourself. The park is open 24 hours a day all year and needs no advance reservation to enter.

Winter adds one risk. Roads can close temporarily during and after snowstorms, and they stay closed until plowing is finished. Leave a spare half-day in a winter plan, and read the Bryce Canyon weather by month guide before you pick dates.

Glamping and Stargazing Stays Near Bryce Canyon

Bryce Canyon became a Certified International Dark Sky Park in 2019. The guide to stargazing at Bryce Canyon covers where to look once you are out after dark.

At Dark Light Collection, we are building glass pyramids on private land about 15 minutes from Bryce Canyon National Park, with Red Canyon about 10 minutes away and the Sevier River in view. The Bryce site will have up to 25 units and opens in 2027. Founding deposits are open now.

Each of the pyramids is designed around the view overhead:

  • Triple-pane glass with low-emissivity (Low-E) film blocks 99% of ultraviolet (UV) light, and the glass is heated so snow melts off.
  • Smart privacy glass tints at a tap when you want the room closed off.
  • A king bed is positioned for sky-gazing, with an en-suite bathroom and a kitchenette in the same unit.
  • A private deck has a fire pit, heated loungers and a personal telescope.
  • Astrophotography taken from your pyramid's own coordinates is ready to download each night.
  • A built-in projector turns the glass into a cinema on cloudy nights.

Skip the pyramids if you want to step out of bed onto a trail. They sit on private land about 15 minutes from the park. For a 2026 visit, book the Lodge, a campground or a hotel, because the pyramids do not open until next year.

For a first visit between April and mid-October, book The Lodge at Bryce Canyon first, then a shuttle-stop hotel if the Lodge is full. Both put you on the shuttle line, and the Lodge adds a walk to Bryce Amphitheater.

Booking Tips for Bryce Canyon Lodging

Book the busiest dates first, because May through September are the most popular months to visit Bryce Canyon. Then work through this list:

  • Reserve The Lodge at Bryce Canyon early, since reservations are highly recommended.
  • Match the campground to your dates: North Campground for any month, Sunset Campground from mid-April to October.
  • No reservation is needed to enter the park. Pay admission or show an Annual, Access or Lifetime Pass at the gate.
  • Buy an annual pass at the entrance if more parks are on your list, since it waives entrance fees at every NPS area. The America the Beautiful pass guide explains how it works.
