For glamping in Utah, Zion has the most choices, with four stays around Virgin and Orderville, while Bryce Canyon is the area built around the night sky: the park was certified an International Dark Sky Park in 2019. Lake Powell-Grand Staircase and Capitol Reef each have a smaller set of stays, and Bear Lake is the pick for northern Utah. Choose the area by the park you plan to visit, then match the stay's season to your dates, because most of these camps open only from spring to fall.

Which Area Fits Your Trip

  • Zion offers canvas tents, Airstreams, cabins and covered wagons around Virgin and Orderville.
  • Bryce Canyon suits a trip planned around the night sky. The park became a Certified International Dark Sky Park in 2019, and both stays near it offer stargazing.
  • Moab puts you close to Arches and Canyonlands, with one camp seven miles north of town and another in the desert south of it.
  • Lake Powell-Grand Staircase has a camp in Big Water about 12 to 13 minutes from the national monument and the lake, and 23 minutes from Page, Arizona.
  • Capitol Reef has one glamping stay in Torrey, about one mile from the park entrance.
  • Bear Lake is the summer choice in northern Utah.

For the most choice, start in Zion. If the night sky is the reason you are going, pick Bryce Canyon between May and late September.

For a March or October trip, Under Canvas Bryce Canyon is closed: it opens in May and closes in late September, while Under Canvas Zion, Under Canvas Moab and ULUM Moab run from March into late October or early November.

Glamping Near Zion National Park

If you plan to see both parks on one trip, the Zion to Bryce Canyon route guide covers the drive between them.

Under Canvas Zion sits at 3955 Kolob Terrace Road, eight miles up North Kolob Road from Highway 9. Every tent has a private ensuite bathroom with a shower, sink and flushing toilet, plus a wood-burning stove with free firewood. Tents range from Deluxe and Stargazer tents for two up to the Angels Landing Suite, which has two private bathrooms for a larger group.

The Stargazer tents have a viewing window for the night sky, and the camp runs star parties. Dogs are welcome for a small nightly fee. Inside Zion, though, dogs are allowed only on the Pa'rus Trail, so plan hikes with that in mind.

AutoCamp Zion is on State Route 9 in Virgin and swaps tents for Airstreams and cabins. An Airstream suite has a sitting room, a private full bathroom and a kitchenette, and the cabins add a private bedroom and a kitchen. The BaseCamps pair an Airstream suite with a canvas tent, with room for six.

AutoCamp Zion is about 2.5 hours from Las Vegas, about 4.5 hours from Salt Lake City and about an hour from St. George Regional Airport. Guests get clubhouse access, and stargazing and campfire music are offered on site.

Open Sky Zion is on Dalton Wash Road, 16 miles or a 25-minute drive from Zion's south entrance. Each safari-style camp has a mini-split for air conditioning and heat, an indoor gas fireplace and radiant heat under the bathroom tile. Kids are welcome, pets are not (certified service animals excepted), and guests are asked to limit evening light pollution.

Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort in Orderville is minutes from Zion's East Entrance. The Deluxe Glamping tent covers 250 square feet and sleeps five, while the standard Glamping tent (224 square feet) and the Conestoga Wagon (100 square feet) each sleep up to six. Units have heating and full bathrooms (ask whether private or shared), and pets are not allowed.

Glamping Near Bryce Canyon

Two glamping stays sit near Bryce Canyon, and both offer stargazing.

Under Canvas Bryce Canyon is about 15 minutes from Bryce Canyon National Park and is DarkSky-certified and one of the world's first DarkSky resorts. All tents have private ensuite bathrooms and wood-burning stoves. Stargazer tents add a viewing window above the bed, and the camp hosts star parties.

Clear Sky Resorts Bryce Canyon opened in 2024 with glass domes in Cannonville, along Highway 12 and also about 15 minutes from the park. The domes have floor-to-ceiling geodesic windows, climate control, privacy curtains, king beds, an ensuite bathroom and a private patio.

The Clear Sky Resorts comparison goes deeper on the domes. At Dark Light Collection, we plan glass pyramids on private land near Bryce Canyon, with opening targeted for 2027, each designed with a king bed positioned for sky-gazing and a personal deck telescope.

Glamping Near Moab, Arches and Canyonlands

Moab has two glamping camps, one close to the Arches entrance and one in a secluded desert setting south of town. Pick by which park you plan to see most and how much you want to be near Moab itself.

Under Canvas Moab is seven miles north of Moab, about 9 to 12 minutes from the Arches entrance and about 25 minutes from the Island in the Sky entrance to Canyonlands. Deluxe, Stargazer and Suite tents have private ensuite bathrooms. The Safari tents use a shared bathhouse with private stalls, so book a Deluxe or Stargazer tent if a private bathroom matters to you.

Every tent at Under Canvas Moab has a wood-burning stove, and the camp holds DarkSky certification and runs star parties. There is no café-style dining at this location, only grab-and-go snacks and communal grills. Dogs are welcome for a small nightly fee.

ULUM Moab sits in a secluded desert setting south of Moab at La Sal, with views across Canyonlands and Looking Glass Arch a short walk away. Its safari-inspired Suite Tents have private decks, king beds with heated mattress pads, wood-burning stoves and bathrooms with rain showers. ULUM Moab is Dark Sky Approved.

Choose Under Canvas Moab for a drive of about 9 to 12 minutes to Arches. Choose ULUM Moab if you want a secluded desert setting with views across Canyonlands.

Lake Powell, Grand Staircase and Capitol Reef Stays

Southern and central Utah have three more glamping stays, near Lake Powell, the Grand Staircase and Capitol Reef.

Under Canvas Lake Powell-Grand Staircase is in Big Water, 12 minutes from Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument and 13 minutes from Lake Powell. Lone Rock Beach is 10 minutes away, Antelope Canyon 22 minutes and Page, Arizona, 23 minutes. Every tent has a private ensuite bathroom and a wood-burning stove, Stargazer tents have a viewing window, and dogs are welcome for a small nightly fee.

Camp Sarika by Amangiri is in Canyon Point, near Amangiri on a 920-acre site near three national parks. It has ten tented pavilions, each with a private plunge pool and a private firepit, plus communal campfires. The camp welcomes guests of all ages.

Capitol Reef Resort is in Torrey, about one mile from the Capitol Reef entrance on a 58-acre property. Its Teepees have one king bed and room for two adults plus a child on a cot, and its Conestoga Wagons sleep up to six with a king bed and twin bunks. Both have a private bathroom detached from the unit, a portable cooling unit and a space heater.

Capitol Reef Resort's glamping runs from mid-May through mid-October, with a minimum stay of usually two to three nights. The resort also has cabins and hotel rooms, a heated outdoor pool, a hot tub, llama hikes, horseback rides and jeep safaris.

Northern Utah Glamping at Bear Lake

Conestoga Ranch is a northern Utah glamping stay at Bear Lake. It sits at 427 N. Paradise Parkway in Garden City and welcomes kids.

The Grand Couple Tent has a king bed, an ensuite bathroom and heat, and the Grand Family Tent adds room for a family with its own ensuite. The Royal Tent Suite has a claw-foot tub. The Traditional Tent sleeps four and uses a shared bathhouse with private bath and shower rooms, and family wagons come in four- and six-person sizes.

Conestoga Ranch is a summer-only stay with a season that ends September 26, so check current dates with Conestoga Ranch before you plan a trip.

Seasons, Heat and Bathrooms to Compare Before Booking

Compare season, bathroom type and climate control, along with a few house rules, when you look at Utah glamping stays. Run each stay you are considering through this list:

  • Season. Most camps open in spring and close in fall.
  • Bathroom. Expect one of three setups: a private ensuite, a private bathroom detached from the unit (Capitol Reef Resort) or a shared bathhouse with private stalls (Safari tents at Under Canvas Moab, Traditional tents at Conestoga Ranch).
  • Heat and cooling. Under Canvas tents use wood-burning stoves for heat. Open Sky Zion has mini-split air conditioning, and Capitol Reef Resort units have a portable cooling unit.
  • Pets. The Under Canvas camps in Zion, Moab and Lake Powell take dogs for a small nightly fee. Open Sky Zion and Zion Ponderosa do not allow pets.
  • Food. Under Canvas Moab has no café-style dining, only snacks and communal grills.
  • Minimum stay. Capitol Reef Resort usually asks for a multi-night stay.
  • Rates. Rates vary by stay and season, and each operator sets its own.

The camps with set seasons in the table all close by early November; for a winter trip, read the Bryce Canyon in winter guide.

To plan your glamping in Utah, pick the park first, find its stays in the table, then open that stay's link above and compare its season with your travel dates.

After dark

Several of these stays run star parties or stargazing tours, and the Bryce Canyon stargazing guide covers what to look for once the camp lights go down.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the best glamping destination in Utah?

Zion has the most glamping choices, with four stays around Virgin and Orderville, and Bryce Canyon centers on the night sky, as its park earned International Dark Sky Park certification in 2019. Lake Powell-Grand Staircase and Capitol Reef each have a smaller set of stays, and Bear Lake is the northern Utah option. Pick by the park you are visiting and the season.

Is glamping cheaper than a hotel?

Rates vary by stay and season, and each operator sets its own, so the answer changes from trip to trip. Before you compare a nightly rate with a hotel, add any minimum stay and pet fees, such as the small nightly dog fee at the Under Canvas camps.

Is glamping glorified camping?

At these stays, glamping adds a bed and, at most of them, a private bathroom. Every tent at Under Canvas Zion has an ensuite with a flushing toilet, and Open Sky Zion adds air conditioning, though some stays use shared bathhouses. The glamping vs camping guide compares the two in detail.

Is there glamping near Bryce Canyon?

Yes. Under Canvas Bryce Canyon has canvas tents with private ensuite bathrooms from May to late September. Clear Sky Resorts Bryce Canyon has glass domes in Cannonville on Highway 12.
